We seem to have made it to 2010, wow! What a year 2009 was and what a pleasure to be out of that one!

We kicked off the New Year in a celebratory style with Louis Roederer's wonderful range, including the fabulous Cristal... Let's hope that is a good indication of what the year ahead will be like.

Below are the details of February's fantastic line up, including our Bollinger Magnum tasting the night after Valentine's, we'll be sure to have loads of the delicious, romantic rosé on ice.

Monday February 1st

Wine Wisdom Course by Tim Wildman MW

 

Regional France could be described as the final frontier for wine lovers. Obscure regions, exotic grape varieties, unpronounceable names, it's all here. From the green foot hills of the Pyrenean Basque country via the garrigue of Mediterranean Provence to the shores of Lake Geneva in the Alps.

 

We look at the grapes and styles that contribute to the flavours of France's well loved regions including Cahors, Madiran, Jurancon, Bandol and Jura. Tim in his inimitable style, will guide, teach and tease us through this fascinating area with his usual mix of MW knowledge and tongue in cheek mischief.

Monday February 8th

A wine and tapas tour of Spain

 

Spain produces some of the world's most diverse wines. Laura Ward, our head sommelier, will talk us through Spain's finest wines ranging from light Sherry to the big reds from Rioja, Rias Biaxas, Toro, Jerez and Priorat. Jordi Vila, our fabulous Catalonian Head Chef, will make matching tapas to complete the evening.

Monday February 15th

Bollinger Champagne in Magnums

 

One day after Valentine's, we have decided to bring you some serious Champagne in the form of Bollinger. Yvonne Maberley from distributors Mentzendorff will present the five Bollinger Bubblies in Magnum! Most wine makers say that wine is better in bigger bottles. What a way to celebrate Valentine's.

Monday February 22nd

High alcohol wines and full fat cheeses

 

The low alcohol wines and low fat cheeses featured in darkest detox January, needed to be balanced with total indulgence in February!  Epoisse, Reblochon, Gratte Paille and more of the most decadent cheeses will be paired with big big Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot. I bet the result will be loud laughter and utter satisfaction.

New this month...

Wednesday February 10th

Dinner with Jordi at 7

 

February will see the introduction of the very exciting series of 'Dinners with Jordi' at our Farringdon Restaurant.  Head Chef Jordi Vila, from the kitchens of L'atelier de Joel Robuchon and El Bulli, will offer a set menu of his favourite dishes (choice of two starters, main courses and desserts) and a cheese course to complete the meal. Laura and I will match the wines to each course. Dinner starts at 7pm with Jordi joining us in the restaurant to discuss his menu in person.  

 

The inaugural offer is £20 per person including all wine and food (one glass per course).
